TENNESSEE ASSOCIATION OF SCHOOL SOCIAL WORKERS |
Louise Mullican Memorial Scholarship
Created in 1996, this scholarship was named after Louise Mullican, a school social worker from Rutherford County, who was a charter member of TASSW.
The amount of this award for 2023 will be $1500.
Applicant must either be an undergraduate or graduate social work student with a specific interest in School Social Work, or an employed school social worker seeking state licensure.
Note: All nominees must hold a student, associate or regular membership to TASSW.
Beverly Diane Taylor "School Social Worker of the Year" Award
Like the scholarship, this award was created in 1996, being first awarded in 1997.
The selection process and criteria for the award have evolved, varying between district or regional recognition, and a “statewide” award.
Although there are many deserving candidates, having one recipient will then enable TASSW to submit that person’s application to the Southern Council and/or SSWAA to compete for the national award.
TASSW members may nominate fellow members by submitting the form below to the email address listed on the form.

Beverly Diane Taylor "Friend to Children" Award
The “Friend To Children” Award originally began as an award to a Tennessee legislator who focused special attention on social welfare issues. Now, it is presented each year to any Tennessean who is not a social worker, but who has, nevertheless, worked to improve the lives of Tennessee school children. This recipient may have achieved these improvements through a direct-service agency, through a charity aimed at children, or through the promotion of child focused, public policy.
